I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s ok to build your homeschool little by little.

📌 Montessori Phonetic Reading Blocks - an Amazon purchase early in 2020
📌 Montessori Moveable Letter - a recent Facebook Marketplace find for HALF the price of a new box, with 2 letters missing. Little Boo was gifted a different set that didn’t have the same properties as the Montessori set, so I originally couldn’t justify buying a new set when he already had some moveable letters. The color difference (vowels in blue, consonants in red), larger size of these, and how they have coordinating rugs that show how to write/build words in the lines truly do make them a great learning tool. However, we made what we had a great learning tool, as well.
📌 Montessori Work Rug - finding the letters for half the original price made it more budget-friendly to purchase a working rug at the same time.

I’m linking these in the bio, but I encourage you to search your local thrift stores, garage sales, BST (buy/sell/trade) groups, and online marketplaces to see what you can find! This is also a way to give more life to items like this, so it is a sustainable action, as well.

Little Cornhusk Doll 💚

Last week Little Boo helped me make the cornhusk doll from his Indigenous Peoples’ Day story in “The Barefoot Book of Earth Tales.” It was really cute and fun! I’m not sure how long it will last since Little Boo likes to slam his toys around lol, but it’s a craft that I’m sure we’ll make again in years to come as he grows and is able to make it on his own 💚
