Secondhand Cloth Diaper Style: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Thrifting & Cloth Diapers
I’ve talked so much about thrifting and cloth diapers here with y’all. You know we love them both for the environment and because we find so many great things! Cloth diapers are easy to maintain, and they cost significantly less than disposable diapers. Disposable diapers are really just like throwing your money away, if you think about it. That’s not disposable diaper shaming – we use them from time to time. Disposables make road trips a lot easier. We try to choose sustainable and less-toxic ones when we use them. But, for us, the benefits of cloth diapers far outweigh disposables on any day. Thrifting is also a way to save money and catch great deals when you purchase essential things for baby. Each season, we make our way to the thrift store sales and stock up on the sizes that Greyson are growing into. We can find his entire seasonal wardrobe for less than $50! Those types of savings are just unbeatable.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
My thrifting adventures have led me to find a lot of paraphernalia from The Very Hungry Caterpillar! It is a classic book that children and parents love. Written and illustrated by Eric Carle, the iconic little caterpillar that turns into a butterfly has been so inspirational. I’ve see it used for many viral halloween costumes and birthday parties across the web. That’s why it was so exciting to find these Hungry Caterpillar clothes in different thrift stores around town. We were gifted the diaper in a big bag of cloth diapers from my mother-in-law’s coworker. When someone knows that you use cloth diapers, they are excited to share their pre-loved cloth diapers with you. I can’t wait to be able to share our cloth diaper stash with a deserving family one day! Until then, I’ll keep sharing them with you all through photographs of Greyson wearing them here. The Very Hungry Caterpillar really couldn’t get any cuter than it does right here. Our secondhand Hungry Caterpillar finds are (spoiler alert) just like the beautiful butterfly that emerges at the end of this timeless story! xoxo Mamas, Papas & Tiny human caregivers, Addie & Greyson
