Happy New Year, everyone! Welcome to 2019. Our homeschool journey is seriously getting underway with the New Year. I feel like I’m having to start everything from scratch. Homeschool is not a familiar concept to me. I don’t recall knowing anyone who was homeschooled, and […]
Author: Addie - Greyson's Mom
Greyson Turned One Greyson’s first birthday party (September 2017) mimicked his baby shower with the colors of white, black and gold. The theme was vintage music with our record player set out and the kids creating musical instruments of their own to take home! We’ve stuck […]
Children are made readers on the laps of their parents

From Addie, Greyson’s Mom:
Why we feature Greyson’s Book of the Week
Access to books at home is imperative to foster high literacy and learning skills for children. No matter what your income, skin color, or background is, books really do “take you places.” We try to read to/with Greyson every night. We’re not perfect – we may go 2 weeks without reading, but then we pick back up like we never left off. It is amazing to see how he already mimics reading. He LOVES it. We want to share our love for reading with you each week in hopes that you’ll learn about fun books and get a laugh out of our goofy antics. (more…)
Thrifting & Cloth Diapers I’ve talked so much about thrifting and cloth diapers here with y’all. You know we love them both for the environment and because we find so many great things! Cloth diapers are easy to maintain, and they cost significantly less […]
Learning – we all accomplish it in so many different ways. Schools that take that into consideration are top of the line, in my book. Many countries and organizations emphasize the importance of children learning outside in nature, versus only in a classroom. Child Care […]
A little half white and half black boy’s dream
In the words of Biggie, “It was all a dream!” Freedom from slavery was a dream. Safely walking down the street while having brown skin was a dream. A white man marrying a black woman was a dream. Equal rights for all was a dream. And still is. It is my dream that I won’t have to fear for this little boy’s life simply because hate causes some people to find his beautiful skin a threat. We are dreamers and we are fighting for what’s right to no longer be a dream, but to be a reality. (more…)
Natural Baby Skincare From the day I found out that I was pregnant, I have been obsessed with sourcing organic, natural, and eco-friendly products for Old World New Baby. I already knew some brands that I wanted to avoid and others that I wanted to […]
Beyoncé’s Babies BEYONCÉ IS PREGNANT WITH TWINS! Wooo.. Got that out. Not that anyone doesn’t already know – the entire world seems excited. I’ve personally been sharing her beautiful maternity photos like crazy. They are so artistic and gorgeous! I learned that her photographer for […]
Doctor Who Diapers
My FAVORITE show EVER is Doctor Who. When I was pregnant and searching for pre-loved (second hand) cloth diapers, I’d regularly look for some with a Doctor Who theme. Imagine my delight when I found a listing of 2 cloth diapers and a wet bag with the Tardis (the Doctor’s time machine). I could write a dissertation-length post trying to explain why Doctor Who is so amazingly wonderful. It would probably be double the length of a normal dissertation because it would be full of emotional rants due to how much I seriously love this show. Instead, I’ll share some of my favorite Doctor Who quotes. Also, the 10th Doctor will always be my Doctor. Do you watch Doctor Who? Which Doc is your favorite?
“Bow toes are cool!”
“Allon-sy!” (French for “let’s go” according to the 10th Doctor).
“In 900 years of time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important”
“We’re all stories, in the end… just make it a good one, eh?”
“You want weapons? We’re in a library! Books! The best weapons in the world!”
“Rose, before I go, I just want to tell you: you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So was I.”
Secondhand Cloth Diaper Purchases
Let’s talk about pre-loved/secondhand cloth diapers for a minute. I have purchased and received secondhand cloth diapers in every condition imaginable. I have purposefully purchased secondhand diapers from other mothers in cloth diaper BST (buy, sell, trade) groups on Facebook. I’ve been given a bundle for free from a group as well, and I’ve been given free diapers from various connections (i.e. my MIL’s coworker’s daughter). You can find secondhand cloth diapers for sale on eBay, yard sale apps, craig’s list, and just about anywhere you go to find used merchandise. My local cloth diaper shop even has a pre-loved/second-hand diaper section! Here are a few tips for buying, examining, and caring for pre-loved diapers:
- examine the condition of the fabric and the closures.
- do the snaps work, are they secure without any holes around them?
- is the velcro still sticky?
- if it is a pocket, AIO or AI2 diaper – is the inside fabric still in good condition? Is it smooth, or is it peeling?
- When examining via pictures:
- ask the seller to share pictures of any stains
- ask for pictures of the inside and the outside
- Terms to know, best to worst. Prices should reflect the condition.
- NWT – new with tags
- LN – like new
- EUC – excellent used condition
- VGUC – very good used condition
- GUC – good used condition
- UC – used condition
- NR – needs repair
Happy secondhand cloth diaper hunting to you all. May you find the best prints, ever!

Addie, Greyson’s Mom
I shopped at thrift stores to stock up on their gender-neutral clothes before Greyson was born. We wanted to be surprised so we opted to not find out his gender! I found the cutest newborn clothes, and it was exciting shopping for our baby-to-be. Now, we go to the thrift stores […]
